J. Penberth Rabold

J. Penberth Rabold is a writer and director whose work explores the complexities of human connection, identity, love, and survival. Drawn to emotionally charged, character-driven storytelling, he creates worlds where ordinary people confront extraordinary circumstances, and where the most compelling conflicts are often the ones unfolding within.

After moving to Los Angeles in 2000, Penberth spent 15 years as a unit production manager and first assistant director before shifting to writing and directing in 2015. His work has earned 22 festival placements and awards, including two second-round selections at the Austin Film Festival for Bathory and Ghosts of War. He is currently developing Dallas & Allegra, a contemporary Rust Belt reimagining of Romeo and Juliet, which he wrote and will direct.
